My boyfriend was driving my car. I have Geico. He damaged the other car. Will Geico still pay even though I was not the driver?

If he is not on your policy then no, they will not pay. He must be on the policy or you are out of pocket, well he is. |

Insurance goes with cars, not with drivers, so if he was using your car with your permission, he was covered under your policy. |

If he is not excluded from the policy that's no problem! I hope he is not excluded. Also if you two live together and he is NOT on your policy be sure to just tell Geico that he does not live w/you and give another address (mothers/fathers/friends?) they may send info letters to the address that you give them. If they find that you two live together they can deny the claim. Be careful and good luck!
P.s it wont affect your driving record/credit history its HIS accident it would only affect his driving record. |

Yes, they would cover the accident as long as you didn't sign a form excluding him from the policy (You would probably know if you signed this form or not).
Unfortunately, your rates will go up because the accident will be payed out with your GEICO policy. In most cases, this type of accident (a "lending loss") won't make the rate jump to much.
At this point, GEICO will probably want to add him onto the policy or exclude him - your choice.

If your boyfriend lives with you and the car is available for his regular use but not listed on the policy you may have some trouble getting GEICO to pay for the other cars damage. Most car policies have an exclusion like this.
If he doesn't live with you and can prove that then your odds of getting it covered are better.

It is conceivable (depending on your coverage) that an insurance company will pay, but that will ding YOUR record, increase your premiums for many years, and affect YOUR credit history and credit rating. |
