My car got stolen - If you work for a car insurance co please help .?

When we were with S. F. ins. we had a truck stolen from our driveway. It had the keys in it but not in plain site. We DID get paid for it and a rental vehicle for the time it was missing. (Our truck was recovered with no damage to it.) The things that was stolen from the inside was covered by our home owners insurance.
I don't know about your insurance since I haven't heard of it but they should cover it. You had taken some precautions although not enough.

USAA is a great company and they will cover the claim even if you left the keys in the vehicle. Don't lie about the keys being the car. If they recover the car and notice that the steering column is not damaged they will know you lied and then your claim might become a lot tougher. If you are caught in a lie the adjuster is likely to suspect that everything you told them was a lie. It's not worth it.

Unless you have some rinky dink little insurance company.. you should be absolutely fine. I work for a large company as an adjuster and we would cover this loss any day (if you had comprehensive coverage of course) Dont worry about it to much...

it depends on the insurance company you are with, some may charge an additional excess as you left the keys in it. but yes you will be covered if you are fully comp or third party fire and theft. i work for an insurance broker and that is how the majority of them work.
ask them for the terms and conditions, policy booklet and policy wording.

I think I'd neglect to tell them I left the keys in it, parked in a "secure" garage or not. Don't leave ANYTHING of value in your car unless you also leave a pit bull in there, too.

I smell an inside job -- Ask yourself who knew it was your habit to leave your keys in your car.

OUR TRUCK GOT STOLEN AT THE BALL FIELDS AND THE INSURANCE PAID FOR IT. BUT I WOULDN'T TELL ABOUT THE KEYS DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR INSURANCE.

It all depends on your policy language. Read any and all exclusions and conditions there are. Some companies will not cover your stolen vehicle if the keys were left in the car. That is like sticking a neon sign above your roof that says steal me please.

Contributory negligence. Shouldn't leave your keys in the car, I don't care where it's parked.
