I was with one company, had an accident in July. The company was bought out in November. I had accident forgiveness with the old company, but the new company signed me on as a "new" customer instead of an existing one, and now I was charged 50/50 for an accident that was not my fault at all, and now my insurance went up. I feel this is really wrong and if I had accident forgiveness at the time of the accident, I should have received that luxury.. anyone else go through this horrible BS???

There isn't anything you can do except shop for a new company, but they may do the same thing. This is the advantage of placing your insurance through an independent agency. They have access to more than one company and when things like this happen, they just might argue your case for you to the company.r |

accident forgiveness MIGHT be transferrable.. u just have to find someone that is willing... your best bet is to go to http://www.4insure.net and see what you can get... thats what i did when i was in your situation.. either way, give it a shot.. i think u just need to enter your zip and fill out a form with what u need |

you may have to shop and find a new company. They probably sent you some literature when they merged and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. |

For auto insurance the obvious way to get a great rate is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same deductibles, auto type, zip code, etc so that all options are a good comparison.
What I most often recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have top name insurers and can give several prices on car insurance polices. |
