My car insurance is up for renewal?...?

but i do not want to stick with my current insurer. I have decided to cancel, but the policy is going to be renewed on 1st Feb and they say they need 7 days notice for it to be cancelled.
So, the things i need to know are:
1) Do i need to write a letter for cancellation or can i do it over the phone?
2) As i don't have 7 days to spare, will they presume i am sticking with them and will this complicate things? Or is it more flexible than that?

Call your agent and ask them the process. You are not the first person that has wanted to change insurance companies so you will not be the first person to ask.
Also...make sure your new policy is in place before the old one cancels. |

They can't renew it if you don't pay it. If it is on direct debit just cancel it at the bank. |

Well you should be able to cancel by phone. I would mail a notice just to be on the safe side as well. worst case scenario is they stick you to the 7 day notice policy and have to prorate the amount for a few days in Feb. you still will probably save in the long run. |

Give them a ring ASAP. It won't hurt, even if they tell you what you may already know. Through experience, my insurer has been REALLY helpful when on the phone. |

alright mate. just tell them u got a better quote and cancel the debit.. or tell them 2 better your new quote... try confused. com for your quotes. they got me 18 better quotes on my insurance.. saved £100+ on mine...... |
