Damage to the other car would be covered under liability - and it's first dollar coverage. Deductibles only apply for comprehensive and collision losses. (damage to your own car.)
Different states have different insurance laws, but generally, a very minor accident (under $500 or $1000) without an injury is not chargeable - BUT - some companies have ways around the "not chargeable" laws - they can put someone who had a "non chargeable" accident into a more expensive program.
In any case, if the damage is confined to the tail light lens, I'd look into the cost of fixing it before deciding if it makes sense to bring in the insurance company. It'll probablby be under a couple hundred dollars, and if so, you probably are better off just paying it out of your pocket. |

if your room mate is OK with it just go to a local junkyard and get a replacement light. That way insurance will know nothing about it. |

I don't know if you reported it or not. I would never report something like that its cheaper and way less headache to just go and work something out with your roommate. |

If you file a claim against your liability insurance - your rates could go up. Your agent would be better able to give you an idea of how much. |

Maybe. It's an at fault accident, but maybe you have first accident forgiveness? Maybe the damages are under your state surcharge threshhold?

you don't report that do your insurance, you just fix the tail light. See, if your deductable, is like $250 or $500, then then damage you do should be higher than that, because it means they (your insurance would pay for it) after you pay the deductable. Then your rate goes up . |
