Basically I dont get paid till end of month and totally forgot about it with xmas and everything and just noticed today its expired.

Thanks guys but its not like I doing it on purpose I did actually just realise my error and I forgot to mention I live in Ireland?

If stopped they will impound the car and you will get fined and points on license.
You are doing it on purpose because you know it is out of date and you are not renewing it. |

Get someone to lend you the money and get it done. With the register they have it flags up if you havent renewed (according to the adverts)
the fine is probably heavy so dont risk it.
You can renew online. Its quick and easy.

The myth of 14 days to renew AFTER expiry is just that - a myth.
Gordon Clown needs every penny he can get - so he can waste it on more stupid ideas - so the Old Bill will extract about £60 from you if they catch you even just one day late. |

Im surprised you've got away with it so far...
Mind you, I have driven a car around for a month without getting the road tax renewed. But I wouldn't to like to take my chances for a longer period and I was only driving it when absolutely necessary, avoiding town and had it parked out of sight. |

You might be lucky. The cops might not see it.

DVLA will already know it's not taxed and will, at this very moment, be preparing a little surprise for you and they will send it to you -- An £80 fine. |

No you have 14 days to replace it. They wont arrest you and possibly wont fine you. Go online and order a new one, it comes through instantly. I have forgetten about my tax for a month once and i didnt get a fine. When i renewed it they just started it from when i should have bought it. |
