My car was hit two nights ago. i got the cars license plate number nowever they drove off. what are my opts?

You should have called the police that day. Call them now if you haven't already. The longer it takes you, the more time they have to fix the car that hit you, so there won't be any evidence.

Call the police and your insurance company if there is damage to your car. You should have done it the night it happened.

Call the police immediately, and report the accident. Give them the license plate number. They will investigate. Then call your car insurance company also. Your car insurance company will want as much information as possible, including the police report, as soon as it is available. Just do as I suggested, and you should do okay. But, you should have reported the accident to police and to your car insurance company IMMEDIATELY. Then, your next move is to call a lawyer. How's your back, and you NECK, by the way? If the accident was not your fault, then you just hit the lottery. You can get large money, for your pain and suffering, if you play your cards right.

Make sure you file a police report, if you have not done so, do so immediatly. Provide the police with a description of the vehicle as well as the plate number.

Then file a claim with your insurance company. If you have collsion coverage, they will repair your vehicle and you will at this time pay your deductible. If your carrier is able to track down the other vehicle (with a plate number they should be able to ), they will be able to subrogate them directly or secure their insurance information, with the threat of sending them to collections.

If you do not have collision coverage, but do have UMPD coverage - your vehicle still may be covered. It may take a little while longer, as your insurance company will need to investigate to determine if the other party has insurance or not, or they will just pay under the UMPD coverage, and attempt to subrogate (collect from the adverse party).

Regardless, if the plate number you have is correct, your insurance company should be able to pursue them.

If you only have liability coverage, no UM/UMPD coverage, best thing you can do, is file a police report, and attempt to gather information on the other party yourself and contact that party.

the first and most important would be to call police and make a report(i assume yu already did that). My experience, you may have to hound them(police) to get anything done. Keep calling the investigating officer to see whats going on. If you have collision coverage on your insurance call them. they will pay you and try(????) to collect back along with your deductable. If you find out who it is file a state report and the other party will lose their license until they pay you(most states)
