I told him that he has a balance of $280 due on the car. It is a 1992 Pontiac Firebird Formula with high miles. I told him he could have it for $800. He has paid all but the $280. Now he says that he paid for a brake job for the car so he only owes me $80. He says that I said that I would take care of the repairs on the car until it was paid off. That is not true. I let him take the car when he had an accident in his old car. I have been paying for the insurance. And he has had free use of the car. I don't think I should pay for the brakes. He is getting the car for less than Blue Book.

Who's name is the title in? If you have any written agreement & the title is still in your name, you can technically repo the car for failure to pay the agreed upon amount for the car or report it stolen & really ruin his picnic.
If the title has been changed to his name & you will not really miss the $280, first cancel the insurance you are paying & force him to get his own insurance, then just walk away from the deal.
If he wants to compare apples & oranges, you could always point out that you have paid the insurance premiums all these months ........ |
