You may or may not get a ticket, depending on the officer that stops you. Get it renewed before time runs out and you have to retest to get it (usually 30 days). |

If you're driving on a license that has expired for a short amount of time, the officer may just give you a ticket and let you go home. If it's been expired for a long amount of time, you'll get arrested for unlicensed driving. |

It's essentially the same as driving without a license. However, if the date is not terribly expired, the likely citation would be for driving with an expired license, which CAN result in a reduced fine, if you show up in court with a renewed license. The officer may even let you drive away.
If the licence is long expired, he probably may NOT let you drive off, since you would not have a valid license on you. Peace officers understand the difference between letting something slip your mind, and irresponsibly ignoring your legal obligations. |

Usually you have till the end of that month. So if it was Sept. then go get it. You can get fined. So, just go, or try online. I did mine online. |
