My friend got hit in my vehicle and I dont have insurance what happens now?

I live in the state of Texas, my friend was driving my car and was rear ended as he was approaching to change lane.
When all of a sudden was hit the entire bumper and back was destroyed, myself and 2 young daughters where driving along.
My girls complain of neck hurting, they gave my friend ticket for no insurance and having a cancelled license, and towed my car away,
just got it out this morning with 200 dollars.
Now I am waiting for the report to be on record, and get a copy of it,
We know the other driver had insurance, but since I was not driving my own car how will this affect me or will I be able to get the other driver to pay for all damages?
I know it is stupid having to drive with no insurance but I am unemployed and going through a lot.

WHY were you not driving your own car?
Since you have no insurance company to go to bat for you, you are at the mercy of the other drivers insurance company. You may have to hire a lawyer to represent you (if you can find one who will) |

the other insurance is liable for your damages and injuries.
No you don't need to hire an attorney. they will only take a third of what you have coming to you on your own.
Don't drive without insurance especially with two young children in the vehicle!! |

You are basically acting as your own insurance claims adjuster. You will have to sue the other person in order for their insurance policy to respond. And now you are up against the insurance company. It can be years before you see a penny because the insurance company have huge resources to fight you in court. |
