My friend recently used my driving license as ID to go into a club?

He had it taken off him by the police and they have handed it into the DVLA, do i have to pay to get it back? / what will happen now?

I've never heard of a club taken this so seriously. Usually they would just turn the individual away -- not contact the police. In any case, do not worry; not much will happen. Just say your friend took it without your knowledge. |

Depends whether you gave it willingly and knowingly, expecting him to do this - or not.
If, say, you lost it and he found it and used it without your knowledge, you may have some hard talking to do, but eventually you shouldn't be blamed.
But if you knew what he was going to do with it, and lent it without protest, then you are an accomplice to his crime ( if he committed one) and you may well face a fine for letting him have it.
If the whole thing was your idea, and you encouraged him, you could be in big trouble.
In the UK you can use any name you like - a different one every day if that amuses you - but you are not allowed to give a false name to the police. At the very least, that is " wasting police time".
The police frown rather sternly on having their time wasted. |

with friends like him you sure don't need enemy's.not much of a friend.as for the police just report it lost that lets your so called friend off and your not a bad guy..personally if it were me ,i would report it stolen and let him face the police.he sure was not considering you at the time. |

I agree about don't say your friend stole it. You will lose your friendship over it. Just learn from this mistake and move on and keep your ID for yourself. Good luck. |
