My girlfriend drove my car and was in a car accident, at the scene no one was hurt and the cop couldnt determine who was at fault, i proved my insurance info, and evyerhting was taken care of now, 4 months later the lady she hit hired an attorney who is demanding 50000 dollars...why does she even have a case? And am i being targeted since it was my car and insurance?

I agree with the adjuster above me. Please disregard all the advice about hiring your own attorney. Just let your insurance company know about this, and they'll handle it for you. Your insurance company has legal counsel for these situations. No need to get your own. |

When you borrow your car to somebody you also borrow your insurance to them. This is no big deal. If you haven't already done so let your insurance company know about the attorney and they will deal with them. |

At least where I live, it doesn't matter who was driving the car, as long as the car is insured. If your car was insured at the time, you are not responsible, tell that lady (leech) and her attorney to deal directly with your insurance. Let them handle it, after all, that's why you pay premiums for. Also, insurance companies have attorneys who can help determine if that lady's case is even a valid one. |

Well, yes you are going to be targeted, you are the one to blame. If it was your car, and you're insurance, then YOU are responsible. Yes she does have a case, if she can prove in court that you're to fault, and she had to pay 5000 dollars in damages... she could easy win that case.
Plus the fact that you weren't driving and let someone else will give the judge more empt to go in her favor, since that seems "irresponsible". |

whenever u let anyone drive your car u are totally responsible for anything that happens while they are operating it...that's the law...you need an attorney...your insurance may not cover any of this and u will be responsible for all moneys including court and lawyer fees for the other party...this is a serious matter and i would address it as such....it doesn't matter what the other party's motives are...if they win...and you end up paying a settlement ....that could keep u broke for years |
