We are in kind of an argument and my mom treats me like I am a kid. I am 18 and my mom says that if I dont give back the car that she will drop the insurance on it. Can I get my own insurance on the car and still drive it? Can she really take my car? Please help!!

I paid for the car but its in her name because I wasnt 18 yet. I pay for my rent my food and everything but its not in my name its in my moms.

Sure you can buy your own insurance, but for an 18-year-old on a private insurance policy, it's going to be ridiculously expensive.
If you live with her, then yes, she can take your car. |

Since the car is in her name she can do anything she wants to it or with it. BTW, In my opinion, At 18, we ARE still "a kid" |

You're 18 and you should be able to support yourself and buy your own insurance, buy your own car, buy your own food, pay your own rent, and work a job to pay for it all. |

If the car is in your name (on the title), then she can't take your car away. However it may be illegal to drive the car without insurance, which can be pricey - especially for a teenager. |

For car insurance the most efficient way to get a good quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you pick similar options with the same deductibles, auto make, location, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.
What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have top name insurers and can give multiple quotes on car insurance polices. |
