My sons insureance on his bike wont pay out for his stolen bike?

DId it not state such a thing in the small print, which is favoured hiding place for the thieving insurance boys? Some policies are known to exclude playing out on unsecured bikes, but does this particular policy exclude certain security measures at all?

If they don't state such an exclusion, clearly, you have a case, so get onto the related bodies such as the Financial Ombudsman ( http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/ ), or Citizens Advice or a solicitor.

You better read the policy because NO insurance company is going to deny a claim based on information that isn't written in black and white (despite what some of these dorks here are telling you). If you still can't find it then simply call the claims adjuster and aske him/her to tell you where it is in your policy. If it isn't there --- problem solved! If it is there, oh well....crap happens to good people.

When taking out the insurance policy did you state that it was kept locked with any device?if so then that is probably the reason why they are not paying up.

they mention it when u take out the insurance
they also ask u if u understood the conditions

i used to work for a motor insurance company
and having a lock on a vehicle is a must for stolen claims

go to citizens advice, tell them what you just told us

Start taking out a small claims against them. Notify them of the action you are going to take and send a copy of that letter to the local paper ensuring that you put a cc and the papers name on the letter.
Also of course as your costs are now going up, hire of taxi to replace bike, phone calls, inconvenience due to non replacement etc. you will have to add an amount say approximately Â£1000 per month. Make sure you put that on the claim and also on the letter you are sending to the Insurance.
Also put a question on here asking why XYZ insurance do not pay out (Zurich?).
If after 3 months it is not settled go to one of the solicitors that do legal aid, you get the first meeting completely free, and go from there.
Do not be afraid to fight them they normally lose although it may take a while but do name them publically as often as you can.

contact your insurance and advise them that you are contacting the insurance ombudsman, then do so, also contact the motor insurers burea who specialise in insurance losses you can find these people with your internet search engine, or the phone book also at the local citizens advice burea, hope this helps.

typical insurance, my advice threaten them with legal action and if they don't do anything then get legal action if theirs nothing in the small print then your covered and like all insurance company's there trying to wangle it!!!!!!!.

First of all, how do they know if it was locked or not, maybe they stole it. Second, contact the Insurance Commissioner of your government area and ask them to investigate.
