My wife got into an accident last night- hers was the only car involved. She did not file a police report.?

She just drove home, are we still able to make an insurance claim? We live in Michigan if that make a difference...

Yes, you should be able to. Some insurance companies are really wierd about the police report, some agents will go as far as saying you can't file the claim without one. But this is not true. You are either speaking to a non-claim employee or a lazy kid who doesn't want to take your claim. (Believe me this happens alot!)

A police report is not a necessity in filing a claim! If they tell you it is ask to speak with a manager.

As far as my knowing,it is a question with various answers,it is definitely depending on the your mind ,providing a great resource here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm for reference though.

Usually you do need a police report for an insurance claim. It's not too late to file it now.

If the damage repair costs are no higher than your collision deductible, or not much higher, you should NOT file a claim. It will only make your rates go up at your next renewal. Pay for the repairs yourself and save money in the long run.

If the car is drivable, you could wait until the next accident and claim the old damages were caused by the new accident -- maybe.

Yes. You just need to visit your insurance agent. He/she will tell you what you need to do from there. If you don't have an agent, call the ins. company's claims hotline, and they will give you instructions.

If there was no injury, and total damage (to your car and anything she ran into) was under the state limit (usually $750 or $1000), no police report should be required.

In CA., if you move the car after a solo accident, you can't file a police report.
You can always file a claim with your insurance company. Their policy will determine if they pay anything or not or if they do, kick your rate up higher.
