Get the car to another garage for estimate, although wing mirrors are not cheap, especially if electrically operated and colour coded.
I had a mirror clipped about 3 years ago and the bill came to £135 |

Ask her to get three estimates...Take the lowest estimate place and get the mirror fixed...
I watched an elderly woman go through a car wash and get her mirror ripped off...She got estimate and had it fixed; it was around two hundred... |

Hi firstly I dont agree with MSAD that you should check with the repair and if they tell you 250 to pay it. They could possibly be in cahoots.
I would take a photograph of the damage so you have some evidence, then ask your own local repair shop to call to do you a legitamate estimate. If all else fails report to your own Insurers and advise them of your suspicions. |

Tell her that if you don't see an itemised receipt, you will report her for fraud. |

Legally you have the right to have your own people inspect & estimate the damage... |

My advice is to go through insurance. If your neighbour isn't as decent as you, doing it this way could just lead to trouble. Your already suspecting that the quotes are for more work than needed, or for damages you didn't cause. Maybe the quote's false maybe it isn't. At least if you have the insurance companies involved it isn;t your problem. On the other hand, if you think she's upto games, have you written anything to say you caused the damages to her car? If she's playing games you could just deny all knowledge and say it wasn't you. Only seems fair.. you did the decent thing and offered to pay, and now she's trying to stitch you up and make you pay for damage you didnt cause? |

get your own garage to quote for repairs
in fact get three and get the best price
this is your legal right
or get your car insurance to deal with it then if they are not insured
is the girl insured is the car taxed if not it should not be parked on a public high way
and could end up being towed.
good luck |

This tells you about human nature and the penalties of being a nice person in this money - grabbing world.
It also tells you a lot about your neighbours!
Tell them your insurance company is going to sort it out and ask them for their insurance details.
It is what you pay for.
They will find out if they are "conning" you or will pay out, less your excess.
Either way it might be cheaper than your neighbours "claim" |

If the estimate has the name and phone number of the repair shop on it--- how about calling the shop - or going to speak with the shop to confirm the amount of the repair? The shop has no reason to lie. If they tell you the repair cost 250 -- then you pay her 250. |

Well, here in the U.S., the best course of action would be to simply call your own insurance carrier and report the claim. They will then do their own appraisal and deal with the owner of the car. |
