Ok first off I'm sixteen years old. I have been driving in total for about a year with my parents or parent in the car. I'm used to it and can drive good enough but my parents keep insisting that it needs to be held off. I got my license three months ago and my mom told me when I got it that I would get my car in three months. I need a car because my parents never can or want to give me a ride places and I want a job because they don't give me any money and I need a car to get me there because my parents can never drive me. Yes I did think of getting the extra money by doing chores and stuff for neighbors but no one wants to. Please help. They are starting to try and make me use my friends for a ride. I needed to get a book for school one time and my dad said quote, " Hey your friend has a car, make him give you a ride there." Again help would be nice.

Cars cost a lot of money to keep up especially older ones that 90% of 16 year old's get for there first car. Just getting $10-30 each week isnt enough to keep it going. You will use at least $25 in gas a week. If you have a part fail like a wheel bearing its gonna cost around $250 or your ignition system or something. Insurance with no collision for you as a secondary driver is going to be about $900 a year for you then registration and the plate cost money too. You should get a job and save your money for a while and then look into it. I'm 18 and remember the same thing not to long ago. You really need a job first to save money and then get a car. It was the same way with my parents. I'm not sure how your parents are but maybe if you keep bugging them they will give in lol. |

i'm pretty sure your parents have a good reason. maybe they are saving to buy you a car. just have patience and wait. you have your whole life to drive. |
