New (used) car, rear-ended, other person didn't have insurance and I had not gotten mine yet...?

I'm going to assume you paid cash for this car, and did not finance it. Niether your auto dealer, nor your money lender, woud let you drive away without full coverage if you had financed it.

So, what are your options.... since the man was apprehended for hit and run drunk driving, it would be an easy enough case to sue him for damages in court. Since you had no insurance at the time of the accident, and niether did he... you have no security options there. Live and Learn.

Sue him. Document the damages, get estimates for the repairs, and take him to court.

Wow.. i cant believe people leave car lots without insurance. Thats probably the stupidest thing you could have done.. but i guess you learned your lesson.

Your only choice is to sue the other driver personally in small claims court. However, if this deadbeat doesnt have insurance and drives drunk... you think he will really have the money to pay you back?

Did you already have insurance on another vehicle?

If you have another already insured with full coverage, your insurance company should cover it as most insurance companies do have a "grace period" for you to contact them to add another vehicle to your policy.

you have no insurance at all? you didnt trade your old car in to get the new one? nothing nada? then you are sooo out of luck. you have to have insurance for you vehicle, im suprised they let you drive off the lot with the car. or did you buy it from a private party, if you have nothing, and he had nothing, you can take him to small claims.

if u had ins it should pick up the new one but u need to cal your ins co to find out for sure Thats why i never drive off the lot with out call my ins co
you can sue him for your damages But no ins. is a fine all by its self good luck
