No, of course not. You can move to Viet Nam or Cuba, instead.
Oh, you want to stay? Well, in that case, yes you do. Not having insurance is absolutely no excuse for not paying damages you do. You will pay, or you will have wages garnisheed. There is absolutely no excuse for driving without insurance, none whatsoever. Note I don't give a crap whether you have insurance for your own car, but to damage somebody else's property and expect a free ride is reprehensible. |

If you dont pay, your wages will be garnished and your credit history TERRIBLE. There will be possible criminal consequences as well.
Your lucky you didnt injure someone while not being covered... thats where the real fun begins.
