Not sure what to do I was in an accident...?

I was in a car accident 3 weeks ago, the driver of the other vehicle was at fault. They hit me my front driver's side. Damage to my vehicle was in the amount of $4,500.00 and I was with out a car for a little over a week. The person at fault's insurance company paid for my car and rental. At the initial time of the accident I didn't have any pain or injuries. However, for the past 2 weeks I have been experience lower back pain that is at 8-9 (10 being th highest) of pain. I went to the dr. and he stated that yes this can definitely be a result from the accident and sent me for x-rays of my lumbar spine prescribed me some muscle relaxers and inflammatory meds. He stated that depending on what the xx-rays show he may then have me start physical therapy. I don't want to be like mean but should I be responsible for my dr. bills? I do have insurance so... I don't know. Friends and family say that I shouldn't be and I should contact the insurance co. and let them know and I should also request pain and suffering. Please give me any advice you may have. Thanks.

This is to the idiot that responded blah blah blah you will be glad to know that my injury is due to the car accident, you are a moran. Its not about money I have very good medical insurance and I have enough money to not want to just lie and get some out of an accident. Get a life. Thanks!

You are not responsible for the bills! They easiest thing to do would be to have a consultation with a lawyer. If you don't claim that you are hurt at the time of the accident it is very hard for an individual to deal with insurance companies because you have very little experience doing this and they know that. Remember, they want to keep all the money that they can. Make a small investment and go to see a lawyer.

If you make an injury claim w/ the at fault driver's company, they are NOT going to pay your medical bills for you. After you are done treating they will review all the bills and your medical records. They will take the cost of bills into consideration when presenting you with an offer.

You have the option of sending the bills to your own carrier or health insurance. Once it comes time to settle, the other company will reimburse your carrier for the bills they paid. That way, you are not jeapordizing your credit by the bills not being paid on time.

Finally, check the laws of your state. If you live in a No Fault state then you would have to send to bills to your carrier, regardless of who is at fault. They would be paid under the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage on your policy. You would not be able to make a claim w/ the other carrier until the PIP coverage is exhausted on your own policy.

Also talk it over with your adjuster. They will give you the proper direction to take. There's no reason to jump to a lawyer and try and sue anybody. 95% of the time lawyers settle the claim outside of the courts anyways. The only time a file will go to suit is if the cost of medical is excessive, and the person suffered from serious permanent injuries.

Send the Dr. bills to the insurance company, if no payment comes through for you, sue them.

Call them and see what they say. If it was a perfect world there would be no problem, but when dealing with insurance company's any thing goes. Also call your insurance company and see what they say.

The other person was at fault its their responsibility to take care of this,lookat your own insurance look for Bodily injury its there for full coverage and also for liability to.The other persons insurance should take of this problem..

I suggest you call a lawyer, I would sue for you bills even if you have insurance and sue for your pain, They should be responsible for what they did to you

it's his fault. if he didn't hit you then you wouldn't have any pain in your back. call up whoever and say i'm sending my bill over because i'm injured from the car accident.
