I have had to place my private plate on retention, as waiting for delivery of my new car in april. The garage is unable to release the new reg to me, before april. Now that the plate is on retention, do i have to pay again to put this onto the new vehicle.

If your plate is on a retention cert you have already paid for its alocation to a vehicle there is nothing else to pay i have two one on the wifes car and one on ret cert. you do have to renew them every year but can do it for up to 3 years cost for that is Â£75 costs Â£25 per year to keep the plate

You will have to pay a Â£80 DVLA transfer fee (asuming your from the uk)
