Hi Folks,
Yesterday, I accompanied a mate of mine around a vehicle scrap dump. He was looking for an alternator for his old Ford Anglia.
Lo & behold, underneath two other cars, all stacked up, as they do, a well bent Ford something, probably used to be a Granada, with plates on it being "MAR 1E".
Well, blow me down.
I had a word with the proprietor in his portacabin, saying that I would extract the thing & take it away on a transporter, as I wanted to fiddle with the engine for a stock car, and have you got the registration documents etc to sign it over to me.
He rummagged though a miriad of old green filing cabinets, and came up with the neccesary.
Ok, I spake, how about £10 to take it away? We settled on £25, so I will now have title to MARIE, as a plate.
Well, according to the internet listings of similars, this could be in the order of £20,000.
Question is, what is the best way of putting this on the market ?
I have a cousin Marie, but hasn't the cash for it. Nor do I.
Should I perhaps just hang onto it for a while ?
The car itself will be taken to a different scrappers, after I have removed the VIN plates as further identification. I unscrewed and took the number plates so no-one else would spot this find.
Any notions ?

Already being used, you have been duped. Go back to the dealer/ scrap guy and look around his yard, he probably has quite a Collection of similar " Personal" plates. |

Got some bad news for you though.
1. The number plate is for sale through the registered number plate dealers and at a lot more than you envisage so you don't have the right to it.
2. Providing you have a current MOT for the vehicle you bought you could claim title to it but I think that that is somewhat unlikely.
3. Did it not cross your mind that the owner of that plate would have had it transferred or put on retention when the car was scrapped.
So, IF your story is true you have just wasted £25 haven't you? not to mention how much you'll have to pay a scrap yard to take it away. |

You have just bought a load of scrap ,before you can take the No plates off the car the car has to have a mot and be taxed ,so how much is it going to cost you to get the car back on the road so you can Transfer the plates . |

nice find,well done but dont get rid of the rest of the car yet....fromm what i can recall for you to remove the plate for retention/transfer i think the car it comes of has to be MOT'd....so you may have a little work on your hands before you see any Penny's. |

All you found were a set of old plates.
The number is already registered.

To sell or swap this number plate the vehicle needs to be MOT`d, as it`s already in the scrap yard it`s obviously well scrap ! It would cost more than the plate is worth to even try and get this vehicle MOT`d.

I don't think that's yours you know, I'm not 100%, but I have a feeling that it is now registered to a Mercedes clk coupe in blue, although that's in the uk not sure where your from another country |
