I work for a cleaning company in MD, we move around in a company car insured by the company owner.. Yesterday, my co worker who is the driver crashed into the car in front of us, I was in the front seat next to her and the airbags came out since we were going at a pretty good speed (about 40mph)... There were 3 other co workers in the back, 2 of them suffered minor back pains and I suffered severe bruises and scrapes on my face from the airbag hitting me, the driver also had minor injuries... We all went to the hospital in an ambulance that arrived at the scene, the doctor told me not to work until Monday (this happened on Thursday) since we work Monday to Friday... Of course all of our medical bills are going to be paid by worker's compensation but my question is will I be paid for my lost day of work, it was only a day and half but it's not my fault I couldn't go to work, it was the doctor's order... Am I entitled to some sort of benefit from the car accident or something? I just want my lost hours to be paid...

Depends on your state laws.
Depends on company policy.
Depends on whether or not you are signed up on Short Term Disability Insurance.
Depends on whether you are entitled to paid sick days and/or paid vacation days.
There are just too many variables involved here to give any type of a definitive answer to your question.
Usually if you do not have an employer that cares or can afford to pay you even though you are not there, have paid sick days/vacation time accrued or some type of insurance that still pays your wages on the days that you are off, you lose those days wages. |

I don't know about your job, but my boyfriend recently had an accident at work, around 1 pm on a Friday, he had to go to the local health clinic, then they sent him to the hospital, and he didn't get home until 4 pm. (we were done at 3 30 pm that day) He didn't get paid for the full 8 hours we worked that day. He had to wait 2 weeks after that Friday for his Workers Compensation to kick in. He was told after he first saw the orthopedic surgeon to not go back to work until further notice, and we found out he'll be off work about 6-8 weeks after he has surgery this upcoming Wednesday.
You would have to ask about your lost hours, but you might not be able to get them. We don't know about how your job works or anything like that, only you can ask your boss about it.
