Ontario Canada - Car Insurance Issue - my provider is dumping me in 20 days due to husband's fine?

Recently bought a new car and registered the car with PC insurance. While registering they asked me if anyone else would be driving car: no. Well, they saw my common-law husband's name through our Home Insurance policy through PC and demanded his license number. After some arguing, I gave them his number.
2 weeks later they call back - they are dropping me due to his ticket and fine 2.5 years ago.(DUI, suspended licence, fine, etc.)
My questions are:
1. Do I have any hope of finding a company who will insure me?
2. When I call a new company, should I disclose this information or not? Perhaps I will not have an option as my file may be flagged?
3. Any suggestions for companies with cheap rates?

I'm assuming your husband currently has a valid license since you gave them his number. As this is the case you must declare him when you apply for insurance, as the application asks if there are any other licensed drivers in the household. If you do not then you are guilty of non-disclosure, which means your insurance wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on. When a claim occurs your insurer would deny the claim and void your policy, therefore make sure you disclose all drivers. The good news is there is an organization called the 'Facility Association' in Ontario who will insure anyone regardless of past claims/ticket history. As long as you have a valid driver's license you can be insured with them as long as you meet their requirements (your husbands past history more than qualifies you for the Facility association). The bad news is they are expensive, but that is to be expected with an insurer of last resort. Speak with an insurance broker who will have access to this market (agents like those with PC insurance wouldn't, they only have their one market).

suggestions start calling other places and if he is going to be driving yes will it cost you yes finding another company sure just a phone call away

Go on line and look up RBC and just by going on line you get another 5% off the price. I just switched from State Farm which wouldn't lower my premiums and I couldn't be happier. I put my home and car with them and saved about $450 a year. All done on the phone too. Good luck. I hope they help you with this.

For automobile insurance the most efficient way to get a low quote is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make certain that you choose similar options with the same deductibles, car type, location, etc so that all options are a good comparison.
