Thats why its called INSURANCE, because it insures you against life's mishaps...having said that you wouldn't have insurance because you had no licence. Your friend is also going to get done, with points on his/her licence for permitting your use without insurance.....Pay the man if you can or if not accept the consequences.....Muppet. |

Unfortunately no you won't go to jail but you will pay a fine The fine in my opinion is not high enough and they should include a jail term. |

The price of the car doesn't matter, it costs the same price for parts no matter how old the car is. People who drive with no insurance disgust Me. I hope You are ashamed of Your actions. |

If the police find out, you're likely to be prosecuted for driving without a licence, driving without insurance and probably careless driving as well. Your friend is likely to be prosecuted for permitting it too. Neither of you is likely to go to prison, but you will end up with hefty fines and criminal records, as well as points on whatever licence your mate has and on yours when you get it.
The choice is yours, go the proper way or pay up, it seems to me. |

well what you did was very silly if your going to practice you should do it off road ie car park or airfield the fact you have no ins your in the **** big time you have either pay up or he can go to the police most likely get driving ban and possibly a fine of more than £3000 from what i can tell your over the barrel end of the day its up to you police or no police |

Your in deep trouble ,go to the police own up to your mistake and pay the fine , but it won,t any thing like £3.000 ,and your friend will be fined for aiding and abetting . |

Hi no jail but do expect a ban and lots of points on new licenseYOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE WITHOUT LICENSE OR INSURANCE so do not expect leniancy i'm afraid....BIG fine too if can't pay for damage and also your mate will get done for lettin you drive too!! |

you will be prosecuted for driving without insurance and with out a licence also for not reporting an accident within 24hours.Your friend will also most likely be prosecuted for aiding and abetting as he let you drive his car knowing you had no licence or insurance unles he says you took the car without his consent then you will be done for car theft.you will get a fine possibly a prison sentence a driving ban and ppoints on you r licence when you get it one or all of these. This is the reason most peoples insurance is so high if cant afford to learn properly and run a car legally then accept it driving is a privelege not a right.if you drive illegally then you deserve everything you get. |

How can a small accident cost £3,000 in repairs plus costs for injury? You said no one was hurt, but the other driver claims he was hurt. It is not only you that is in trouble, but your friend can also be charged with allowing you to drive his car with no license and no insurance. It looks like the two of you are in deep trouble. You could have killed some innocent person. You will most probably both pay a heavy fine, be disqualified from driving and pay compensation to the other driver, but this will depend on the court. You can also face prison for this offence. |

Are you sure you had no insurance? Your friend's car was insured, maybe that covers this. Ask.
Driving without insurance is serious. For £3000 you're getting off cheap, but don't give him a penny until he signs a paper saying this TOTALLY settles his claim, and he'll not come after you for more later. Get help from a lawyer if you need it.
Everything's negotiable. £3000 is just his starting price, so he could settle for less, or try to hang on for more. Ultimately he could take you to court and try to prove damage, but without an insurance company to defend your interests, you could have a tough time of it. |
