Prerequisites for enrolling in a German University?

Hello, I'm just about finished with my first year of high school in America. So I have 3 more years of school until I hopefully go to Germany to Study in Automotive and Combustion Engine Technology.
I've sort of come to a wall because it's really hard to find the prerequisites for going to a German University. I know the first one. LEARN GERMAN. I'm really doing well on that step and won't have to worry about it. But because the school system is so different, it's difficult to find GPA requirements and test requirements. Could anyone please help me with that and any other information that you could give me that would be useful.
I also need help finding out the financial aspects of enrolling in a German University. With tuition and all of that stuff.
What I've done was go to the Formula Student website and went to "registered teams" and I did "Ctrl F" and found all of the German Universities participating.
So know I have a list of Universities but I'm having trouble figuring out who will take me.
