is driving my car to jersey every weekend from ny,, about an hour drive, bad for the car? my parents are telling me to stop driving it to new jersey beause the car is always having to go into the car shop to fix things. is it true that i should avoid driving once a week to jersey? my bf lives there.

if it is an older car they arent made for the miles..but newer ones are. so it really shouldnt matter if you drive and hour every weekend. how much do you drive it during the week...add up those miles and time and it will probably be the same. |

I think your car might need to be serviced. I drive from nc to nj and back every few weeks. If you are in NYC, that kind of driving is not good for your car. Why not let you and your bf takes turns-you visit him one weekend and then he visits you the next. |

I would say it depends on the age of the car. Make sure you get your oil changed when it's due, that help keep up the engine. As long as you take care of the car and it's engine you should be okay to commute back in forth from NY to NJ. But if you can't afford to get break inspections and oil changes done then YEA!!! you are damaging the car! |

Sweety, If you take care of your car well, it'll take care of you. Do the maintenance, auto trans filter & fuel filter every 3 yrs. If you don't have an owner/operator manual,pick up a haynes manual at your favorite parts store. =^ ) |
