hello,lastnight i was pulled over by the police........as i had only 1 breaklight........but when they ran a chek on my car,they found i had no insurence....which shocked me....as im insured with the AA!! fully comp.......so anyway i have 7days 2 produce my documents.....the thing is,ive lost my paper part of the licence.....i have the other parts to give them.....is there a punishment for this?

No, there is no punishment.
You should reapply for a lost licence ASAP, then go to the police station with the documents requested and explain the situation.
They will then give you a new producer - just covering your licence and give you 21 days to show it - so that the new one will be back from the DVLA in plenty of time.

You are going to have to report this to the DVLA and they will issue you a new license ( £19) if you have one ?
Also phone AA insurance and ask for proof of insurance
you may have took it out on direct debit, got your docs, then cancelled the payments
Hence why you are showing no insurance

2. Get your insurance documents and ring AA and check with them. |

Contact your insurance co now for confirmation that you are insured you will get that almost by return and I wil l bet you have forgotten to pay the premium. So far as you licence id concerned you had better apply for a new one but produce what you have at the police station |

Simply, if you can produce an orginal insurance certificate that will be the end of that, as a quick call from the front counter officer to the insurer will resolve any doubt.
As for the DL, im sorry to say that if you have the new photo style DL, then both parts count as your DL, techically you should carry your DL around with you when driving a motor vehicle, however being realistic some don't hence your producer (HORT1), if you are unable to present with 7 days (from midnight) of the date of issue both parts you could be reported for failing to produce your DL, some forces are strict others are not so, as already suggested get onto DVLA asap and report it lost, i don't doubt they will charge for a re-issue as the renewal every ten years cost at the mo £17.50! (expiry date, section 4b on your DL pink card) All you can do is explain, the police are aware you have a valid DL, as they can check this very easily via DVLA (known as the #DL enquiry, done in an instant, over the radio), but dont be put of if the SEO (front desk officer) says youll be reported, this is a formality, it depends on the PC and traffic clerk.
So be honest and hopefully it will sort itself out...

There is not any serious punishments for this, but if you cannot prove that you have insurance, then you're going to have to pay to get the insurance. But the easy thing that you would be able to do is to go to the insurance agency that you have the insurance papers for and request a new copy of them and then show them to the police. |

the police use the ''midis'' insurance database,even joe public can...but they sometimes dont update it...just contact dvla for a replacement counterpart. |

Apply for a duplicate NOW! Your licence entitlement can be verified on the 'police national computer' link to DVLA.
More importantly, get in touch with your insurer to ensure your cover is valid. If you pay by direct debit, take bank statements showing you have been paying and that you ARE insured! |

you will have to produce this as it shws in you have points or not, i lost mine and had to pay for a new licence which came with a new paper licence |

You should be able to contact your insurance company and they can fax you proof of insurance or send it to you via priority mail or you could pick it up if thats an option for you. When you get this proof of insurance the ticket fee will be waved. If you're unsure how to go about doing that, go to your local police station and show them what you have. Ask if the documents are sufficient. Good luck! |

Go to your dealer ship that sold you the car and they can help you and as long as you have all your paperds all charges will be dismissed |
