Question about car insurance?

You lose the control of the car because of black ice on the road.You crash it into the side of the bridge.Is it your fault or not?Should your policy premium go up because of it?

This is so frustrating.We drove like 20 mph because it was dark and we already saw ice on the road earlier.Geico has the most horrible car insurance ever.

It is the side of the bridge's fault. If he hadn't been there you wouldn't have hit it! LOL.
Anyway, next time, release the brakes before you hit and you'll regain traction. If the wheels are heading into a different direction you'll miss the bridge!

This is what happened to me.... I was driving in the mountains in new mexico and i hit black ice. I rolled my 2000 s10 blazer and totaled it.

I was not issued a ticket, but my insurance rates went up. The reason why is because they had to pay out to replace the blazer. They also had to pay out to fix the guard rail I hit.

When you get into an accident and there is no one else involved, 99 percent of the time its your fault. Although black ice is a pretty extreme situation, you still were the driver and responsible for the same operation of the vehicle. A person could say you were should not have been driving in the extreme cold. And that you should have had more experience driving with black ice conditions. I personally didn't have the proper training to drive on icy roads and it was my own inexperience that caused my acccident.

i beleive that by law if you loose control of your vehicle ,it will be your fault for driving to fast for conditions ,dont quote me on this but i have seen this happen .

Yes - according to insurance company standards, the accident is your fault.

Any accident involving loss of traction - even due to black ice at low speeds - is considered a preventable accident by the insurance companies - even if you did not receive a ticket for the event.

And ALL insurance companies WILL place you in the high risk group for at least two years following the event, and in some cases for up to six years.

This will result in significantly higher premiums for your insurance coverage and you will most likely not even be considered for coverage by any other company until the 6 years have elapsed!
