i have a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse, the check engine light is on and it is due for emission testing, here in ga is an obd test,was wondering if unhooking the battery for a couple minutes would clear the trouble code long enough to get it to pass the test

depending on the problem it might go away long enough, or it might not, you would have to try it and see, but you could go to autozone for a free test, it might be easy to fix, or find out how to keep it off long enough to pass test.

disconnecting the battery would clear the code, but if the problem isn't fixed, the light will come back on.
get the codes read and fix the problem.
