I got my first driving violations (yes 2 at the same time) almost a year ago (both stupid mistakes and I've learned since then). Anyways, those two incidents put a total of 5 points on my license. Fortunately, I took a defensive driving course to remove 2 of them and soon, 3 points will be deducted since I've gone a year without any tickets. SO... my question is: Once I have no more points, will the auto insurance rates I'm paying now go down to a rate as if I never got those tickets? Or will those tickets despite the fact I have zero points, still force me to pay for a higher rate? Thanks.

Those tickets (points) will follow you for quite some time. "Point systems" are based on the State that issued you the drivers license. They have nothing to do with insurance. You reach a certain amount of "points" within a certain period of time, the State can revoke your right to drive an automobile. The violations will remain on your driving record and will be up to an insurer as to whether or not you need to keep paying a "penalty" on your insurance premium. |

depending on your state those point never disappear until 5 - 7 years after the fact. Insurance companies track 5 - 7 year histories for rates so sorry to say you will pay for the next few years. |
