im 22 years old and do not have my drivers license yet. I have gathered up the courage to go and take the test for my permit. I live in the state of Rhode Island. I tried looking up info online but did not have much luck. This is important to me and i need some help Quick! Because i am over 18 years old does this mean that i do not have to go through drivers ed? Also i think i have to go to the dmv in pawtucket Rhode Island and i heard that they only give the permit test on certain days. Do you know what days? Also i think because i am over 18 years of age that i only have to have my permit for 3 months as opposed to a 16 or 17 year old who has to have it for 6 months. If you can spare the extra time to do a little reaserch for me i would appriciate it greatly and award best answer to you! Again i am not a teen i am 22 very soon to be 23 living in the state of rhode island. I am looking to get my learners permit then drivers lisence. I have never had a permit or a lisence before and have never been in any trouble with the law. Any Information you can give me will be a great help. thank you!

Get the manual. Then read page 7, where you learn you don't need drivers ed. but must pass a written test to get your limited instruction permit.
