Real big car insurance problem, praying someone can help...?

Ok i have quite a big problem so i will explain the whole situation and hopefully someone can help...

my insurance is due on the 28th of April, trouble is i cant afford it and the whole insurance premium is too expensive. its like £2000 for my Rover 25 1.4. Im nearly 18 so the original plan was to cancel my insurance and wait for a month but then i realised i need my car to get to work, its a vicious cycle to get out of, i cant afford to ensure the car but i have to! I also dont want to cancel my insurance becuase i already have 3 months paid, can anyone help me? any advice, i mean practical advice that isnt sarcastic... whats the cheapest way to insure my car or is there any way round it, praying someone can help... im lost... and stuck.
Additional Details
I already pay monthly, i still havnt got enough, and i cant sell the car as i need it every day... i cant be without it... i have no one else to rely on

Practical advice:

1. Sell the vehicle, buy one in a lower insurance group.

http://www.thatcham.org/abigrouprating/

will give you a guide of what group any car is in. This is something you should definitely do if you can't afford what you are paying but may not get you around your immediate problem.

2. Change your direct debit date. Basic money management. Get all of your mandatory bills paid out of your bank on the same day as you get paid. Anyone you pay a bill to will do this for you if you call them. Again, it doesn't solve your immediate problem.

3. Call the insurance company's customer services. Explain to them your situation. They should be able to come to an arrangement with you. They don't want you to cancel your policy as much as you don't want to.

Thank you for being one of a decreasing number of young drivers who get motor insurance despite the industry's extortion.

I hope this is a help to you.

Not at 17 there is any way around, fact is your age group up to 25 cause more accidents than any other, you may be able to get a bit cheaper if you agree to a substantial increase in your excess. Churchill are one company that will not let you have an excess below £350 thats why they are so cheap. Try an online quote and stick in £1000 in the excess see if that helps

Have a look on confused.com or yes insurance. They seem to come up with good prices. I would suggest get a smaller engine sized car too.

Cant you pay monthly. It will cost more in the long run but at least your car will be on the road and fully insured.

Edit
change the car for something a lot cheaper. trading it in may give you some extra money in your pocket anyway!

darcydiddler
why not just pay it monthly by direct debit

Use public transportation. There is no easy or cheap way out.

OK, you've got more car than you can afford, clearly. There's no miracle answer here, you're going to hate this.

You have to sell the car. YOu have to buy a cheap $500 clunker, and THEN you'll have both transportation, and affordable insurance with minimum coverage.

That's the real truth. You're digging yourself into a hole, and it's only getting deeper.

How about selling the car and finding something with a much lower insurance price??

Not much you can legally do. You want to keep your car in use to get to work and you also want to keep it insured in your name but you can't afford to. Something's going to have to give.

Either shop around for cheaper insurance and cancel your current policy, or sell your car and buy one with a cheaper insurance group. All Rovers have very high groups by comparison to similar cars and that's about the only part of the deal you can influence.

You might even do better if you get one of those policies where you have a tracker fitted (at your expense, which you probably can't afford) and agree to a fixed mileage and usage times (i.e. no late nights/early mornings). The premium then drops because you become a lower risk driver.

Final option is to sell the car and get a moped. Many insurers will allow the no claims bonus you earn to be transferred later to a car policy.

I guees you should look around for a cheaper insurance policy for you. 2000 pounds - its awfully expensive. Search internet for more affordable quotes.
http://autoinsurance.maclenet.com - you can try this company. I personally have their car insurance in London – it has much cheaper service. As I know they also have more affordable insurance policies for teens and first time drivers.

Most 17 year olds get the bus to work, why can't you?

Time to buy a more affordable car. A Range Rover was a terrible choice. Consider getting quotes from a different company that might charge less, call your insurance company and explain the issue to see if they can help, or get a job that pays more. This boils down to poor budgeting...chalk it up as a lesson learned. Kudos for not driving uninsured! There is hope for you yet!
