You go to the nearest police station file a complaint giving the info you got/driver gave, say you were confused at the time and didn't feel well. Tell them the insurance info the driver gave was false, the police will take it from there.
Than go to small claims court, file copy of report with claim for damage, judge, he/she will get info from police.

Once you leave the scene of an accident, you are pretty much out of luck. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. I was in an accident, and this girl asked me not to deal with the police or insurance company, but would meet would meet and she would give me some money. She gave me some, told me she would give me the rest after she got paid again, and never heard from her again. I was told by the police that they couldn't do anything because the damage was less than a $1000, and we called in well after the accident happened.

No, you cannot find out personal information from a license plate number due to privacy regulations. This is why you need to give that info to the police. Now it's your word against the tow truck drivers. You should have called the police and waited however long until they arrived. Did you have a witness? If so, it will help you greatly.

Your local city govt. can help out in this one. If you have the license plate number and the info. for the company, you have a little recourse. Did you happen to get the driver's license info, and his truck's ID no. ? If you have these things they can tell you who owns the truck. Now, another way would be if you had a relationship with someone in the used car or new car selling business. They could run a DMV report on the plate, and come back with an owner, then you can file a hit and run report.

If I knew what state you were in, I could give you an answer, but you neglected to say.

Frankly, I'd just give the information to your insurance agent and pay the deductible. They will get their money and yours back, and they are allowed to do some things you can't.

Most likely it wasnt intentional.
Call the tow company and ask them for the info. If it was done on purpose then that driver is an idiot and will likely lose his job over it. He put the owner in a very bad position especially if there are any witnesses.

File a police report, you can do it either online, on the phone, or at the station depending on your area. Ask for advice from the person who helps you with the report-most are willing to help out and theyll know how things work in your area--road laws are local not national, so Yahoo isnt usually a great place to ask.

I would say that if you want to find out who did it ,you will have to pay .
why don't you give that information to your insurance company and let them guide you thru this .
or look for the towing service adress in the yellow pages and go talk to the owner he probably does not know this.
