in 1996 no tags on vehicle which was on a 1985 Chevy, which I have never owned. Called the number on notice because I don't remember ever getting ticket for no tags. Last name they have was my maiden name at which time I was married so last name didn't coincide. I asked info about said ticket all she gave me was it was signed by me and the vehicle make. How can this be after 13 years. How do i get a copy of this so call ticket and avoid paying this hefty fine $466.00 since it went in to collections. How come I could still drive and still register my vehicles, I thought you couldn't get license or registrations if you had outstanding ticket. I kiddingly told her that it being so old why don't you put in shredder, she laughed we are digging up all old tickets. I need help.

Every governmental action has some type of appeal process. If, in fact, you never owned this vehicle find out what that appeal process is, and use it. If you are getting a notice of judgment from the Franchise Tax Board there is nothing to pay, They will simply withhold that amount from any future tax refunds you may be entitled to. I would pursue this as soon as possible.
I wish you luck with this. I had them do the same thing to me (withhold tax refund) over alleged child support payments even though I proved that I had paid the support. I never did get the money back. |

Wow. I am fighting a similar debt only it is my husbands debt and he doesn't owe it either. FTB assessed him a demand to file in a year he did not work. He did not get the notice and now its up to $6000 in penalties and fees. When we called they said the account belonged to a different socail security number even. They are stalling and letting the statute of limitations expire. I hope I get my money back, I didn't even know him back then. |
