Okay, so just recenty i got in a terrible accident, and now everytime i get in a car, im sooo nervous its not even funny! when i see someone pull out infront of us, i start breathing really hard, and my mom's like its okay, calm down. But i know pretty much everyone is scared to get in a car after a wreck. But mine

Maybe you should start off by sitting in the back seat instead of the passenger seat. This way you can look out to the side instead of in front. Or try closing your eyes and listening to relaxing music on a MP3 player (while sitting in the back seat). This way you get used to being in a moving vehicle in a more relaxed environment. After a month try riding with your eyes open, but still listening to the music and looking out the side so you're not concerning yourself with cars pulling out in front of you. After a month try without the MP3 player. After move up to the front passenger seat. Obviously if you're not comfortable moving up to the next step then wait, however do it today. Delaying this will only make your anxiety worse. If you find this is not working then you may need to speak with a therapist or a hypnotherapist (trust me they work). |
