I had a ford contour with pa plate. The registration stick was to be up January 31, 2009. I bought a different vehicle off craigslist. I went to go buy it from a small lot with just a few cars, a small building for an office, and a sign that said **** auto sales. The guy that was selling it (same last name as the sign) was there to take the money. His father, well that's what he called him, was there to fill out the pink slip. The name as the agent on the pink slip was a different last name than the car lot guy's name. I had parked my contour and took the plate with us to get the new vehicle. I paid for the vehicle, then paid tax, transfer, title fees. The guy doing the pink slip asked if we wanted to pay for the registration being that it would be up. So, we paid an additional $36 for the registration sticker to be renewed. This was on January 2, 2009. I called my insurance company and put insurance on the new car and took it off the contour. About two weeks later I got a letter in the mail from penndot stating that my insurance on the contour has lapsed and that I have until feb 2, 2009 to turn in my plate to them. I called them up and explained and they said that they have received no information from the guy who did the pink slip, nor the guy that sold the car. I mailed them a copy of the pink slip, like they asked, but when I was copying it, I noticed that the guy did not write on pink slip that the registration was renewed. I called penndot back and they said I would have to contact the seller and let him know that I need a temporary registration sticker. We have called him several times and he just keeps giving us the run around about why he hasn't sent any papers in to penndot yet. As of now, I cannot drive the vehicle because the registration sticker is not good and the pink slip doesn't say I paid for one. The guy that sold the car wanted me to come there and re-fill out a pink slip paper so it shows that I paid for the new registration but I have already sent a copy to penndot. Then he said he will meet me at leonard's auto tags and give the money back for the transfer, and title fee and I'll have to buy a new plate because the sticker ran out on this one. I don't understand what is going on can someone give me some kind of explaination as to why I have to get a new plate?
