Renew it online, then you don't need the physical documents. The system already knows you have a valid MOT and insurance. You just need the reminder from DVLA which has a code on it.
In any event, you can't renew your tax disc at a Post Office until after the 15th of the month.
If you're overdue for renewing it, i.e. it ran out at the end of September, then you face an automatic fine already.

No, it is a legal requirement that you show these documents when taxing your vehicle. There are no execptions other than online taxing. you ask for PO.

no, i am sure you need all documents with you you can do it on line if you have all details to hand though you just type in all the numbers and pay with credit or debit card.

No, you will need all relevant documents at the post office, you can renew online though because your details are all held on the dvla system, so they know you are taxed, insured & mot'd.

You don't need the log book if you have the renewal notice.

If renewing online, you only need the renewal notice.
If renewing at the Post Office, by post or at a DVLA local office, you'll also need your insurance certificate and MOT certificate (if the car is over 3 years old).

NO! Do it online it is the easiest thing ever, and you don't need to show any documents.
It is all on record so , just do it online it takes 5 minutes.

Postal strike might delay if a few days, but at least you have an excuse, and the vehicle will appear taxed to ANPR at least.

Take your renewal document to the Post office. As with Online renewals their system will tell them that the vehicle is insured and has an MOT They will give you a form to notify of change of address, but providing you have the notification of expiry that you would havebeen sent, you do not need the V5 (Log Book).

JUST NOTIFY CHANGE OF ADDRESS OVER THE PHONE,BACKING IT UP WITH A LETTER,THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RENEW AT A POST OFFICE USING THE AVAILABLE FORMS.They may allow you to change your address and renew on line ,it depends on whether they are worried about a false registration.
