"If you need to renew your photo
You can renew your photo at any time, however, if your photo is due to expire very soon, it’ll need to be renewed before the date of expiry. You won't be able to renew your photo using the telephone or online service."

i want to renew my photo but i'm not sure which form i need to fill out. i presume it's the d1 form? correct me if i'm wrong please.
also, how much do i need to pay? i've had a look at the information leaflet but it doesn't say how much and neither does it say which form i need to fill out
it would be great if anyone could link the relevant information

Without a renewal application
If, for any reason, you don’t receive the renewal application forms you can use the D1 ‘application for a driving license’. This is available from the DVLA form ordering service, and Post Office® branches. You can check the expiry date of your photo in section 4b on the front of your driving license.
