I am going to be borrowing my boyfriends parents truck over the weekend and i am wondering if the Full coverage i have on my car will make the coverage on the truck become full coverage. There is liability on it through their insurance company but i want to make sure there is full coverage on it if i drive it through the snow to idaho.
I know some insurance companies will give you full coverage to drive any vehicle if you have full coverage on your own but im not sure if this is a requirement or just something a few of them will do.
BTW i have allstate if that makes a difference.

I think that generally speaking the answer is no. Insurance usually follows the car, not the driver. But not always. You really need to call your agent to be sure. Even though you have Allstate a policy written in Washington might be different than an Allstate policy from a different state. State insurance laws vary. Also, keep in mind that even it you have full coverage, that coverage would only extend up to the value of your car. If the truck is worth more than your car and was wrecked they would only pay up to the value of your car. Again, that's only if your coverage is in effect on a borrowed car. |

The Allstate policy will automatically adjust to Idaho's insurance requirements if they're different from Washington's, but it won't add any coverage. Whatever is on the BF's parents' policy will follow you to Idaho, but you won't get any "free" coverage. |
