Well, if you don't want to pay more than your deductible you should make the claim, it's up to you. It's a collision loss, and the only way it would affect your premium would be if it were considered an at-fault accident, but even then just paying under the collision may not affect you. You'd have to talk to your carrier, because premium increases for claims vary between companies. |

no! take a picture of the hole take a estimate along with the picture to your local city manager and ask them to pay the damages.
i had the same thing happen where i live and with the same evidence i told you to collect,i walked out city hall with a check for the repair cost.you pay taxes that are suppose to go to street repair and if the city is negilent in repairing street damage they are liable for the damages to your car.if they give you ****,hire a lawyer |

Only if you have "Comprehensive" coverage and even that may not cover it. Yes, it might just raise your premium.
No, you can not sue the entity responsible for the road the pothole is in. |

If you ran over a pothole then filing an insurance claim will cause you to pay a deductible, take a large chance of increasing your annual premium, and likely add an at-fault accident to your record.
A flying big-rig tire hit my car on the freeway a few years ago. As a result my Insurance company classified and reported it as an at-fault accident, raised my rates, and would have charged me my deductible if I had not canceled the claim.

First check with the state, county or city where you hit the pothole. The state of MN will pay for damage caused by potholes on state roads and highways.
Ask your agent how much it will affect your premiums. The surcharge could stay on for 3 years. |

File it against the city/county jurisdiction that was fixing the pothole (or should have been).
I doubt the damage would exceed your deductible. |

Around here if a car is damaged from the road-bad pothole- the county has to pay. You would prob still have to go thru your ins. and all they need is any little excuse to make you pay more. ask your agent. Maybe its cheaper to have it fixed yourself or live with the damage if you can. |
