Yes. Because little nicks (easily fixed without replacing the windshield) can spiderweb into much bigger cracks (whole windshield must go.)

its essential (in the UK) only if its in the sweet of the wiper blades. I never take my car to a repair garage unless I really have too - they always seem to come back with a different fault which you dont notice for a while. I do what I can myself.

yes. if you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance, most compnaies will waive the deductible o repair it. once it has spread and you have to replace it, the deductible will apply.

Yes you can buy a kit for repairing windscreen chips. easy to use and it stops the chip becoming a crack , which it will do if left.

yes it's a good idea. It's not expensive and if the repair is done right you can barely see the nick. Most car dealers have a man that will come to the shop and do it. I paid like 40.00 to have mine fixed.

They actully may be able to just repair the nick without replacing the windshield. There is a clear compound that is now available. Check with a local glass installer for details.

Often times, insurance companies will waive your deductible and pay for it themselves. Double-check with your insurance company before you approve the repairs just to be sure.

You should, it will spread. Plus, it makes your car look ugly once the crack spreads. It's not expensive to repair.

REPAIR is a lot less expensive than REPLACEMENT - hence a lot of insurance carriers waive the deductible if you choose to repair the damage.

If you DON'T take care of the nick, it could spread - especially in the winter due to the heat of your heater/defroster on the front glass and the cold on the exterior. Once the crack starts to spread, you may not be able to repair and you will have to have it replaced.

Be sure to ask your agent what happens if the repair fails - will you be subject to a deductible if you have to have the glass replaced.
