No because they don't have motors and if involved in an accident a bicycle is not going to cause much damage to another vehicle. If a bicycle rider has an accident and causes damage, the rider is still responsible for the damage and is liable to pay. |

Yes i think the ones that do race riding and that are in clubs should be, they should also be made to pay road tax as well, cause when they are in a group they think they own the road |

Bicycles are 100% eco-friendly, so the government aren't going to be keen on bringing in new laws to force cyclists to have insurance or tax. Also, the chances that a bicycle is going to do any damage to your car, house or person is slim. There is more chance that a car will hit the bike, therefore it is the drivers insurance that is needed. |

No, that would be ludicrous.
I assume want pedestrians to have insurance too? and skateboarders? and scooter-riders? roller skaters? dog walkers? drunk people?
Edit - it is optional, anyone can get personal 3rd party insurance. |

If i am caught on the road with an un-insured motor cycle or car I will receive a substantial fine and points. If I am playing on a mini motor again I can expect a fine and points. Why is it that somebody can jump on a bike with little or no training, no insurance, no tax and nothing is said.
Given that cuddly ken is forcing all motor vehicle's out of London, there will come a time very soon when bike riders are the only people in London and watch Ken will impose a road tax/insurance on them.

considering the way some of them abuse the road & traffic laws in London, Yes. |

The way some of them ride they should have training so they can indicate when going round corners. It wouldnt work because of the age range of people that can ride bikes. If you said for the over 18s and it wasnt a large amount a year maybe they would think twice before riding on pavements and cutting up cars. |

Since cyclists can and do sometimes knock over pedestrians and injure them, I'd say yes, some sort of basic third-party insurance should be compulsory, but how you'd enforce it on an unregistered, unlicenced vehicle like a pushbike is anyone's guess. I believe some home-contents insurance policies can include third party cycle insurance, but it's not compulsory. |

Yes, and skate-boarders, roller-bladers, kids with push-scooters, people pushing baby carriages, wheelchairs, dogs on leashes, grocery carts, hand dollies, wagons, kids' tricycles, and pedestrians.
Get real, once you start with the stupid stuff that is impossible to administer, it will never, ever end. |

I punctured my bicycle on a desolate hillside.
Who's going to pay for that? (sigh) |

Yep they are using the road and if one hits a car it can damage it and they dont have to pay out to fix the damage were is the fairness in tht? |
|

Yes!!!
They should also pay some form of road tax and have to have safety checks done on their cycles to make sure that they are fit to be ridden on the road. |

All traffic on the road should be taxed and insured, the idiots who cycle side by side are a pain |

Cyclists are NOT environmentally friendly! They produce excess CO2 & methane straight into the atmosphere ,think about it!! and extreme reactions from pedestrians & LEGAL road users by their total disregard for traffic laws. I was driving (Articulated vehicle) in London today from lewisham to woolwich, and had to take avoiding action on at least 10 occasions to miss these mobile organ donors who seem to have a death wish. Motor bikes etc I can deal with, they have lights & good brakes, and the majority have had some road sense knocked into them. Tax and force insurance onto all road users, or crush the offending bike. A 44 tonner makes short work of a bike!! |

Yes,because if there hit a park car,who will pay for the damage?? |

A cyclist is supposed to take care whiole riding. There is no special insurance cover. Accident / life cover does not cost more for a cycist. Third party insurance to vehicles covers accidentr to cyclist too. |

Yes,because if your riding on the road and you get hit by a car its automatically the cyclists fault if they dont have insurance.Thats the same rule as a vehicle without insurance. |
