Should i carry on learning to drive?

hi i am 21years old and for my 21st birthday a few weeks ago my parents brought me a car. The thing is i have only had about 16 lessons and im still a total wreck when it comes to driving. It gets to the point i hate my lessons. I dont want to be a failure.I so want to drive but i dont hink its gonna happen. I get so scared in the car that im gonna ave an accident,Just want some advice.

The best way to get better at driving is to get experience. I remember my dad taking me to an abandoned shopping center near my house so I could learn how to park. He'd find big rocks and set up so I could practice parallel parking. He'd also take me through quiet subdivisions so I could learn how to stop, make turns, etc. You could also go to places with big parking lots after they close so there will be no cars in your way. Other than that, just practice practice practice.

just keep learning you will get the hang of it.. you should probaly practice in an empty parking lot...

I'd say just get out there and drive. Pick places with little or no traffic, start in a parking lot. Have someone come with you of course, but don't have them give you lessons. Just let them sit there and be quite while you drive. Drive and drive and drive until you feel more comfortable.
Start in the parking lot, then a low traffic street, a long road, freeway, etc as you get more and more comfortable.

You just need to get the hang of being in control of a vehicle, feel how it responds to you. You'll get the hang of it and feel comfortable soon enough! Just leave out the lessons until you feel confident behind the wheel. Then have someone help you with all the little details, parallel parking, etc.

Just focus on feeling comfortable driving a vehicle first, even if it takes a few hours in the parking lot. Do a few burn outs, quick stops, etc. and you will feel better about driving! There is no better way to learn... leave out the lessons until you feel good about controlling the vehicle, because all they will do is confuse you and make you feel like everything is crazy and you are out of control, until you feel good behind the wheel. Focus on that first. You don't need to learn everything there is to know before you start driving...

Curiously, you're starting kind of late.

That isn't too significant, except that maybe it indicates that your interest in driving hasn't been that high until now, and that might mean you haven't been paying attention while riding in cars. Observing seasoned drivers from the passenger seat can be helpful in "culturing" your driving.

Therefore I would suggest trying to get as much time riding as well as practicing on your own.

Get comfortable with driving a car somewhere reallly quiet, eg country roads or if you have access to it, private land. the just build up slowly to buisier situations eg country roads and small towns then slowly up to dual carriageways and city driving. I hated driving when i first started and my dad took me to one of his cousins farms and just let me get used to driving. Then i built up to busier roads and passed my test first time with no minors!

Please keep practicing...for the sake of us all!

After a short time of practice, you will be great at driving...it does not take very long to ge noticeably better...but you will know you are a good driver when you can drive and not think about what your doing and just do it

Being a good driver involves having the confidence to make quick & smart decisions when required. If you don't feel up to the task just yet, hold off until you get more experience.

Is there anyone in your family that can take you for lessons? Maybe you can ask them to take you to an empty carpark one day and just practice very simple things. You need to find someone who is patient and relaxed (unlike my parents!).

Everyone will take different amounts of time to learn how to drive.

If you feel you are ready to take the test and fail - don't worry about it! It is a very stressful experience and even the best drivers I know failed the test once or twice.

Good luck and safe driving!

Just remember to get insurance for your car if you learn in it. :)

practice alot! off of the main roads. Set up real life situations in a controlled invironment. this will help. Remeber, baby steps.
