Should insurance companies pay for new down payment on a new lease when another driver totaled my leased car?

My leased car was parked on my driveway when someone hit it and totaled the car. Now their insurance will only pay for the car and not a new down payment on a new lease. Which means I will have to pay $2000 out of my pocket because someone else hit my car. Does the insurance company pay for the down payment or am I screwed?

That's correct. You are getting your car's worth so with the money just buy another one. If the car isn't yours then pay the bank and you are back to square one: *you never owned a car* lol. |

The insurance company has nothing to do with your next lease, they're not in agreement to give you $2000 for a new car. This is like giving someone for mental anguish. If you bought the car, the insurance company will pay for the rest of the payments and will pay you the extra cash they get(depends on how old is car, the newer the less money). So yes, i'm sry to say you're screwed. They should however reimburse you for the lease money you already payed, only certain insurance companies for this policy for not all of them have it. |

No, that isn't what insurance is intended to do. Insurance is only supposed to "make you whole", or restore your vehicle to the condition just prior to the accident. If the car is totaled, insurance will only compensate you for the actual value of the car just prior to the accident. How much you still owe on it or what it will cost you to replace the vehicle isn't their problem. |

Uhm, you had a car that was worth X amount of money.
The car gets totaled and the insurance gives you X amount of money.
Is there anything you find unjust out of this and what is it because I don't see it. |
