Call your insurance company and give them the information you have, and ask their advice. If you copied the license wrong you may never find them. If you have collision coverage, your insurance will fix it, less your deductible.
You should not have left the scene, you should have asked someone to call the police so a report could be done. |

Aw, poor dear you are in a bit of it. The only thing you really can do is file a police report - which you've already done. Your insurance company will do the rest just tell them the complete truth and they will handle it. It's what you pay them for.
Peace and best of luck. |

Wow girl WHY didn't you call the police right there?
I'd call it a hit and run honestly, tell the insurance company a woman hit you from behind and took off and you took her license but it doesn't match. I'd still have them run the plates, find the person, and see if maybe she switched plates on her cars, they might trace it to the right car if you remember the model and type of car.
I agree to also look around for her car- or if there were cameras in the area you got hit, like a parking lot, or in an intersection, try seeing if they can see the license in CASE you got it wrong.
I'd also look for her car, like say it was rush hour traffic, but she might drive a different way from now on. |

Hello to You!
|
Submit the information to your car insurance company. Even though the license didn't fit the car, the name of the registered driver is most likely the same person.
What happens is that if the insurance company pays to fix it, they will go after the other driver and they have great resources.
Good luck! |

Well, you might have written her license number wrong or there are more than one car with that number. Maybe you gotta say what [state or city] the car is in. |

Call the police immediately!!! Give them all of the information that you have about her.... you could also go and see if there was anyone where the accident occured that may have wittnessed it. |

I would call the police now. And let them handle it.
Something somewhat like that happend to me when i was in school. I came out to my car and my front bumper and left headlight was busted and my left front tire was messed up. I called the police. Luckely someone saw the color of the truck and that itt was a female so they found her and she had to pay $1800 for my car to be repaired.. |

either you can take it as a uninsured loss and pay the deductible or you can try to hunt her down |

What a rotten deal!
I doubt that you would get much help from the police, even if you found the woman and/or her car. (How come they found two vehicles registered with the same plate?)
Once, my son was involved in a similar situation & our insurance guy was able to run the plate. Like your case, it was registered to a different car. The owner denied any involvement in the accident.
Unless you have full coverage on your car, you're probably out $1600. Talk to your insurance agent. Would "uninsured motorist" kick in? I don't know. |

You can try to get an address and sue her in small calims court, but don't count on getting anything. A guy hit me with a lic. plate that didn't even go on his van. I couldn't get him to pay. His father in law was a police officer and MYSTERIOUSLY the report I filed was "lost"...I didn't have a copy yet. |

The police have the info. Call them. Then call your insurance company. |

It doesn't matter if the car model matches the plates exactly. They should be finding the name that the plates are registered to and contacting that person. Likely, either that preson registered incorrectly (and they're the one who hit your car) or they had their plates stolen. Either way, report this to the police properly and have them contact the owner of the licence plates. |

Do you have her name or address? If you should be able to file a police report. I would also contact you insurance company and tell them what has happened and they should be able to tell you what you can do also. If you happen to see her car out I am pretty sure that you can call the cops and tell them that you have found the car that hit you the otherday and drove off. |

Never ever ever leave the scene of an accident. Wasn't that question on your drivers test??? 1600 dollars is an expensive way to learn what you should have already known. |

well, i dont think you can do many things, This is not really good, and it seems that the things are not as clear as they seem to be. |

Well Sue her *** of course but also, did u ask for her name? but try to inform more information bout how she looked like and the car was hit tooo so locate a car with the front bumped! |
|

Just me!!!
|
I don't think you can just drive around and give the police license plates numbers for a car that looks similar to the one that hit you, but is not. They will not allow you to do that. |
