Speeding in a 60mph area...?
|
If one got caught doing 100mph in a 60mph area and was stopped for dangerous driving (late for work one day, 1st ever offence in 13years, have no claims on insurance). Told could be 10 points or, at worst, a 1-3 month ban, both with large fines. I'm not worried about the fines so much, but need the car for work, and am also worried about higher insurance premium. Help! - any way to reduce charges (haven't received paperwork yet) and any insurers better for me? Any answers greatly appreciated, thanks. Additional Details I'm in GB, also the policeman told me that it would be 10 points or a 1-3 month ban plus large fine.

Automatic ban. Points on licence and huge fine. Think yourself lucky. You could have killed someone. My suggestion to you is to go to court, plead guilty. If you need your car for work, then ask your employer to write a letter on your behalf stating that you will be unemployable within his company should you receive a driving ban. Sometimes this helps. On the other hand the magistrate could think that you are even more of a pr @tt to drive so much over the speed limit that it could cost you your job. That's the choice you have. |

My hubby thinks that if your caught doing 100mph then its an instant ban.Expect the worst.
Hope your job is worth all of this. |

not positive but thought 100mph was a ban 12 points look it up on computer.Plus a £1000 fine. |

You can expect a fine of £10 for each mile per hour in excess of the limit, and a 12 month ban. So, £400, 12 month ban, and it`ll be on your insurance record for ever. Not severe enough. |

If you dont get a ban, you Should!
Being late for work is NO excuse! |

Yep, the general concensus is correct. Over 100mph anywhere, even on the motorway and you are liable for a ban. Best thing to do here, which might get you the least fine and costs, is keep your mouth shut, plead guilty and say you are sorry. If you try the other route, and plead not guilty etc., if you are then found to be guilty, the costs you will pay are much higher i.e. the police must attend court to give evidence against you, and you will be the one who pays for it all.......at the end of the day, you knew the speed limit was 60. If you didn't then how come you've got a driving license ? |

Firstly who wants to speed to get to work, should it not be the other way round? not that I condone speeding because I don't. Nothing is worse than dying. or worth it for that matter.
There are insurance companies that do take into account penalty points, but if you get 13 you've lost your licence anyway.
The fines imposed by the court reflect the seriousness of the offence. If you have difficulty in paying them ask the court about payment plans. |

if you got caught speeding by that much I'm sorry you deserve to get banned . the speed limits are are placed on roads because of the type of eg country lanes , bendy roads |

If you was doing 100 or more it is usally an instant ban, only way to avoid is appear at court, tell them how sorry you are and prove you need car for your income, you will still get the points but you should keep your license because its a first offence. As for insurance not a lot you can do about that. |

Being an oldie, I wonder when young people will learn. I watch it every day, young people taking risks which will get them no where. They rush pass you taking stupid risk and you sit he hind the at the next obstruction or lights, they have got no where. Or they are taking down details at an accident. Have you ever thought that at 100 mph the chance of killing or being killed has been multiplied, what would you have lost, a wife, couple of kids. How would you like a conscience of killing a father of a couple of kids. Please think about it. The answer is simple do allow enough time, if you are delayed:inform don't try to make it up. If I might be permitted as an oldie with a lot of experience, please remember we do not think as fast as you and its something you should allow for. Whose in that car you are about to carve up |

If you're being reported for dangerous driving, there's a bit more to it than excess speed. You can expect a summons to court, and you need to get yourself a solicitor.
Whether you plead guilty or not is up to you and your adviser, but either way the court will ask if there's anything you wish to say before they pass sentence. Now's your chance to apologise for your stupidity, apologise for taking up the court's time and mention the fact that you'll lose your job. They may or may not be swayed by this, the usual view is that you should have thought of that first. I'm not going to add "quite right too" |

100 mph and 30 or more over the speed limit seem to be the magic numbers in a lot of districts that lead to automatic bans. If they didn't immediately impound and have the vehicle towed, count yourself as very lucky. Sorry, if convicted you will have a suspended license for a time, and once you get it back your insurance bill will look like the national debt for the next three years.
I seldom recommend this, but in your case I'm going to suggest a good attorney. He will be expensive, but could save you a lot in the long run. |

I thought it was an automatic ban at 95+mph, could be wrong though.
Apt name Ticket2 ride think you may be needing a bus ticket. |

The law is quite clear on this subject.
100mph = a driving ban.
The police usually allow you the speed limit plus 10%. 70 - 77 or 60 - 66mph.
There is NO excuse for doing a ton. Im afraid you,ll just have to grin & bear it. |

In many jurisdictions you may be able to plea bargain. In otherwords you plead guilty to a lesser charge and the court drops the dangerous driving charge. This is one option to explore.
You can fight it especially if there is a group that specializes in fighting these types of tickets. Most cities have someone, so ask for info and see what they say.
Some judges are willing to accept the fine and reduce the points part or no ban. They change the penalty. Note that this is not every judge, so try the plea bargain or fight it. |

Dangerous driving - Thats a Laugh.
That is surely speeding, Unless you was undertaking people and cutting everyone up.
A DD code is one of the worst to have, That will affect your insurence, But as you should have full no claims and a clean record it shouldent be the end of the world.
Have a look on the dvla website for extra details.
Try keeping a eye on your mirrors more next time, Then you will see the coppers before they see you doing something very bad, If your pulled over for a traffic offence then its your fault, But if it was a camera that snapped you then thats a different matter.
Goodluck with getting a lesser sentence. |
