I was going 29 in a 15mph school zone this morning. Will I automatically have to pay double the fines because it was in a school zone? Is there any way to get fines reduced?
Additional Details
Every other school zone in my town is 30mph. It is only this one street where it is 15mph. I was going 29... It's not like I was seriously hauling a$$ and mowing down little children.

You will probably pay a double fine. If you take a hard look @ it there are kids there. Would you be able to live with the guilt if you killed some little kid? Take it in stride and think twice next time. |

Get in touch with a lawyer who deals with traffic tickets. He might be able to get you off if you attend defensive driving. You'll still have to pay (for his services and the school, not the fine), but it might get it off your record, thus saving you money in increased insurance premiums.
But next time, slow down in the school zones. A lot of kids get hurt or killed each year by people who break this law. It says 15 MPH for a reason. It's easier to stop your car at this slower speed than at 29 MPH or more. You are driving a missle that can kill, remember that! |

I don't know about Texas law but be glad you are not in New York. You speed in a school zone here and you are in dip you know what. |

it will be double the fine and there usually is no way to get it reduced and they usually wont allow you to take deffered ajudification or defensive driving for it your kind of sol sry..... |
