I just got a speeding ticket in Connecticut for 82 in a 65 for 300 dollars does anyone know how much my insurance will go up and if it does, I have no other moving violations. and also if i appeal it does that help?

I think the points are what affect your insurance rate. If you can get them lowered or dropped, that will help to keep the insurance increase to a minimum. Might be worth going to court. The judge might drop the points, but increase the fine, but the trade off could be worth it. If the officer who issued the ticket doesn't show up for the court case (which sometimes happens), then the ticket will be dropped (at least, that's how it works in Michigan). |

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck! |

Its not the ticket that effects the cost of insurance, its the points on your license. You need to go to court to appeal the ticket. In most cases the police will drop all points but raise the price of the ticket. Sometimes you get a meat head cop though that wont help you out. |

It depends on your insurance company and when they "see" the ticket on your record. Companies don't routinely check your record at every renewal because it costs money to do it, so yours may not find the ticket immediately, and some companies will forgive the first one. Appealing might help if you think the ticket is "bad", but that depends on the judge. |
