The title is in my name, but i cant drive it its a stick?

I put a truck in my name for my boyfriend to drive, since he had no bank account. he said that he would keep the cars inspection up and pay the taxes, and insurance, he hasnt done that and the inspection is out of date. I cant drive it to get it inspected can i sell the truck without the keys, since he is keeping them from me. do i get it towed, or what would you do? please help. he is being immpossible and refuses to take responsibility for anything. i want to sign it over to him, but he wont sign for it and refuses to accept responsibility for it. wont get it inspected and refuses to let me borrow the keys to have a friend take it. what can i do?

Why do so many women do this? Are you gals so desperate to have a man in your life that you let "boyfriends/husbands" do this kind of crap to you? He probably had to put the truck in your name because he couldn't get credit on his own. Did you do for him what a bank (that is in the business of lending money to credit worthy individuals) was unwilling to do based on his credit history?

The truck belongs to YOU if it is registered in your name. That means if he causes an accident or property damage with that vehicle YOU can be sued, and held financially responsible. Protect yourself by towing it somewhere that he won't find it, and sell it. As long as he is driving around in it it will be a cloud hanging over your head. I hope you didn't do that OTHER dumb thing, financially speaking, that so many women also do, IE: Give him a cell phone that is billed to your account.

After you get rid of the truck, get rid of the boyfriend. If he is the father of your child do you really believe an irresponsible guy like this would pay child support if he "kicks you out" as you claim he is always doing? You deserve better don't you? I sure there are lots of nice, caring, responsible guys out there in your community that would like to get to know a nice person like you, and treat you the way you should be treated.

hey,its your truck if its in your name.just switch the ignition and door locks.it don't cost much and he will not have access to it.

get it towed, you can get new keys made for it... talk to a guy at a garage and ask him about it...

and why not learn to drive a stick anyways. its not that hard. lots of people do it.

but definitly get it back from him. he doesnt deserve it.
(why not TAKE the keys back and bring a friend that can drive it and drive it home for awhile. (change the keys-so if he has copies he cant steal it back)
get it inspected and up to date and then sell it.

if the title is in your name, and in your possession, you can always get the law involved. just call the non-emergency line, and tell them that your boyfriend has stolen the keys to you truck, and is refusing to give them back. they will handle him, and you wont have to worry about him getting arrested.

Responder #1 is right. Call the Police. It's your truck and he is withholding it from you. Legally, he is a car thief. Go get him.
